A Sunset Engagement Session
There are few things more romantic than an engagement session in Charleston, South Carolina. There are few destinations I love more than this coastal gem of a city, so when Blaine and Angel asked me to photograph this session, how could I say no? It was the absolute best way to start off 2021. After a year that I think we can all agree has been worse than hard, it was a breath of fresh air to be outside with them, capturing their love!
We started off our adventure with dinner and drinks at a local favorite, Taco Boy. After refilling our energy stores, we made our way downtown towards the open-air Charleston Market and famous church in the middle of town! The agenda was simple: explore as much of Charleston as we could before the sun went down!
A Savannah, Georgia Proposal
“We had never been on a trip alone together, only with friends and family, never just the two of us in the whole five years we have been together,” Angel told me when I asked for their proposal story. “So the fact that we somehow planned to do this trip and Blaine agreed to go to my favorite place (Savannah, GA) was crazy to me. I knew something was up!”
“Blaine is a total beach person. Which Savannah has a beach, but its not the same!” Angel explained. “He likes to stay right on top of the beach. But on this trip, he was all about exploring downtown and doing anything I wanted to do. I knew something was up!”
So they went out and did just that: went bar hopping and ate some greasy giant pizza slices. On their way back to the hotel, he stopped and said, “Let’s just go sit in this little subdivision park.”
Maybe it was how nervous he had been earlier in the evening when asking to go out for drinks, Angel said of course. So she sat down on a bench and was just looking around at the beautiful park at night when all of a sudden he proposed! Despite it being 1:30am, he couldn’t wait to call his family and share his excitement!
She later told me that, “It was a perfect night of just us having fun and exploring! My only regret is not having you there in the bushes hiding and taking pictures!”
A Destination Engagement
I love this proposal story because Blaine and Angel are true adventurers. So when their engagement session also reflects that? It’s perfect! They love exploring new and old places together, always ready to have fun and laugh with those they adore most!
I captured Angel’s sister Taloni’s wedding last year, so Angel messaged me instantly when she was engaged. There is nothing I love more than being able to serve the same families when the opportunity comes up because our couples become like family to us!
So running all over Charleston with these two just felt like a weekend away with friends! I hope you enjoy seeing some of my favorites from our time in Charleston this last month!
