A Private Mountain Wedding

Today’s blog post just makes me giddy with excitement; it’s not every day you get to share holidays and memories with one of your couples! I am so excited to share just some of my favorites of my brother’s private mountain wedding! My new sister-in-law was absolutely stunning; I was practically photographing the entire thing through happy tears. I love them both so much!

One of my favorite details is the coloring of the bridesmaid dresses. They just absolutely pop against the rolling green grasses and trees of the natural backdrop of the location.

A Private Mountain Wedding

The venue was very special for this wedding; our childhood home over looking the mountains. Fall was beginning to creep up the leaves in the trees. The sunlight was golden. Under an expansive sky, everything still felt intimate. In a word, beautiful.

I want to share with you what I wrote on my Instagram, mildly edited, about this day:

“When I was a kid, my mom tells this story of how I’d draw a picture with a house, my parents, me, my sisters, and a dog. I always said that we needed a boy. Well, I was ten when my mom called me into the house one evening when I was playing with my new skip-it (that really ages me) to tell me I was getting my wish: she was pregnant with a baby boy!

The joy I felt in the years following! I remember coming home to do my homework quickly so I could hold him, sitting by his high chair at dinner, hugging him constantly, and even driving home from Virginia Tech after class when mom told me a girl had broken his heart (he was 10).

He is, and forever will be, one of my favorite people. I’m so happy to say that he married the love of his life this past weekend! They are perfect for one another and it feels like I gave a piece of my own heart away in watching him get married.”

I am so happy and honored that I got to capture this day for them. I’ll always love them forever! I hope you enjoy these special pictures as much as I do.

When it comes to considering an outdoor wedding, there are a lot of factors that come into play regarding weather forecasts and venue alternatives for unpredictable events. Don’t be afraid to chase the wedding location of your dreams, but always be cognizant that we’ve never been able to control the weather. Make sure that you’re happy with Plan A and Plan B!
