A Madison, Georgia Proposal Story

Can you think of a better way to propose to a woman named Madison than in a town bearing her name? Nick reached out to me on a referral from a fellow photographer. He needed a photographer to capture his proposal two weeks later. Well, I can’t get enough of proposals, so of course I instantly said yes!

After nailing down the details of the location, Scott and I began to excitingly prepare for this surprise proposal. You definitely don’t want to spoil the surprise, so planning is a must!

The Day of the Surprise Proposal

We drove down to Madison on the morning of the proposal and began scouting where we were going to hide for all the best angles and shots. As we debated the pros and cons of certain locations to hide, a quick text from Nick to tell us he was on the way sent us into overdrive. No sooner had we gotten into our positions, Scott whispered over the phone, “They are here! They are here!”

Nick led Madison to the side of the fountain and time slowed down and sped up simultaneously. Scott jumped from his spot and I immediately threw my phone on the ground and ran down the steps from mine. Madison sat down her purse, realization dawning that this was the moment she’s been waiting for her whole life. Nick got down on one knee and the tears just started flowing!

This is the moment that kicks off everything. Often, as a photographer, I am involved in the engagement session and the wedding day. But this is the first major moment that kicks off an entire season in a couple’s life. I love it! Scott and I grabbed some flutes and a bottle of champagne from our car to celebrate with this newly engaged couple!
